The production of textiles in Britain, particularly Cotton, can be traced back to 1295. Manchester, the original “Cottonopolis”, and the surrounding district of Lancashire were home to some of the most significant industrial developments, especially in textiles and the chemicals to treat those textiles. Advancements in textile technology have continued, driven by the constantly changing demands of the industry for improvements in chemical technology to deal with the changing quality of grey goods, the ever-improving standard of Easy Care finishing and to minimise the chemical impact on the environment.

We have an extensive network of representative companies throughout the world.
The use of Allchem®-HIRO® products gives added assurance that environmental issues have been addressed and that many of the pitfalls associated with the difficult stages of textile treatment are avoided or overcome.
Proving that Great Preparation does give an Excellent Finish!
Great Preparation
Great Preparation is a vital requirement for the successful production of top quality goods when Dyeing,
Printing and Finishing cellulosic textiles.
The PRETREATMENT process should provide the dyer, printer and finisher with a substrate that is consistent in terms of its colour and rewettability. It readies the textile goods to accept colour and removes residual impurities, whether natural or processing aids. This will then allow the colouration process to be completed successfully.
PRETREATMENT is an extremely critical stage, especially during the continuous process for woven goods. It is possible to create problems through incorrect or insufficient preparation, which are almost impossible to overcome in subsequent processing. The use of Allchem-HIRO® PREP products gives added assurance that many of the pitfalls associated with this most difficult stage are avoided or overcome.
Allchem-HIRO® PREP emulsifiers, wetting agents, stabilisers and sequestrants have been especially developed to:
- Reduce water consumption
- Save energy
- Limit effluent disposal costs
- Give properties that control and enhance the effects of the base chemicals
- Enable far greater flexibility of the chemical system
For a Dyer or Printer a consistent base fabric is essential. Added to this certainty, the use of the Allchem-HIRO® DYE and Allchem-HIRO® PRINT auxiliaries gives further reassurance that many processing problems will be eliminated.
Allchem-HIRO® DYE’s range of dyebath additives are made with ease of application in mind. During the Dyeing processes there are many interactions. Not only is there the interaction of dyestuff and fibre there are other unwanted interactions. There is a need to firstlydistribute the dyestuff through the textile. It must also be diffused into the fibre. These actions can be adversely affected by the natural hardness of metals found in the textile but mainly in the water.
The Allchem-HIRO® DYE range of dispersants, sequestrants and wetting agents have the properties to eliminate these unwanted interactions.
Allchem-HIRO® PRINT are a range of various polymers adhesives for printing to give the optimum performance in respect of adhesion and release whilst having no adverse effect on the class of colorant.
After fixation, fastness is further improved by the use of the Allchem-HIRO® DYE washing off and fixatives.
FOR AN EXCELLENT FINISH
An excellent finish is assured by our ability to offer resins and finishing auxiliaries, which meet the demands of today’s textile industries. Allchem resins were first developed in the 1920’s and used on delicate fabrics such as silk. The HIRO® trademark is known and respected globally for reliability, quality and consistency.
Allchem-HIRO® FIN resins offer handle, easy care, dimensional stability and other technical properties. They can be used to obtain both stiff and soft/gentle effects depending on individual application requirements and can be applied using padding or coating techniques.
Full complements of melamine and reactant resins are available from stock or can be customised to meet the individual requirements of our customers. Melamine resins are offered with low formaldehyde contents in both part methylated form and hexamethoxy methyl melamine for improved water and chemical resistance. Reactive resins offer low released formaldehyde.
Together with zero formaldehyde products, these are all capable of meeting the requirements of Oeko-Tex performance levels. A variety of special finishing performance chemicals including flame retardant solutions are available to provide the best possible finish to all textile types.
